Even the most carefully chosen tile will underperform if installed with the wrong materials. The adhesive needs to suit the tile type, the substrate and the conditions of the space. The grout needs to match the joint width and the level of moisture exposure. The waterproofing membrane needs to meet the requirements of the Australian Standard for wet areas. Choosing the right materials ensures the installation lasts, stays compliant and does not require costly rectification work down the track.

Adhesive & Additive

Getting your adhesive selection right is one of the most important decisions in any tiling job.

  • Tile adhesive is the foundation of any tile installation. We stock polymer-modified adhesives for everyday ceramic and porcelain work, rapid-setting options for commercial turnaround and flexible adhesives for substrates subject to movement, such as timber floors and compressed fibre cement sheet.
  • Primer is applied to the substrate before adhesive to improve bonding, reduce porosity and ensure the adhesive performs as intended. Using the right primer for your substrate makes a significant difference to the long-term performance of the installation.
  • The additive is mixed into the standard adhesive to improve flexibility, workability and adhesion performance, particularly on difficult substrates or in wet area applications.
  • Sealer and cleaner products protect finished tile and grout surfaces from staining, soiling and moisture penetration and are also used to clean and prepare substrates before installation.
  • PVC adhesive is used for bonding non-ceramic materials and is an essential product for certain installation types.
  • Self-levelling compounds are poured over uneven substrates to create a flat, smooth surface before tiling begins, saving significant time compared to manual screeding for small corrections.
  • Epoxy adhesive systems provide maximum resistance to chemicals, moisture and heavy loads, making them the preferred choice for commercial kitchens, laboratories and industrial environments.

Grout & Grouting Tools

  • Grout is available in standard cement-based formulations across a range of colours and joint width options to suit both floor and wall tile installations.
  • Epoxy grout is a two-part product offering superior stain, chemical and moisture resistance for high-performance applications in commercial and heavily used wet areas.
  • Grouting tools include grout floats, squeegees and cleanup systems to help achieve a clean, consistent grout finish across the full installation.

Sealant & Waterproofing

  • Sealant (caulking) is used at movement joints and perimeter edges where rigid grout would crack under natural building movement.
  • Silicone is available in a range of colours for wet area sealing at junctions between tiles and fixtures, floors and walls.
  • A waterproofing membrane is applied by brush or roller over the substrate before tiling in wet areas and is required under the National Construction Code for bathrooms, showers and laundries.
  • Waterproofing tape and tool products are used to reinforce corners, floor-wall junctions and pipe penetrations where the membrane is most vulnerable to stress and movement.
  • Primer for waterproofing applications prepares the substrate surface to ensure the membrane bonds correctly and performs as specified.
  • Caulking tool products include application guns and finishing tools for neat, professional sealant work.

Soundproofing

  • A soundproofing mat is an acoustic underlay installed beneath tiles to absorb impact sound before it transmits through the floor structure. It is particularly relevant for multi-storey residential and commercial buildings with acoustic performance requirements.
  • Soundproofing adhesive is formulated to bond the acoustic mat to the substrate while maintaining the acoustic properties of the system throughout the tile installation.

Screed

  • Sand and cement screed is used to build up floor levels, create falls to drainage points and prepare substrates for tiling in both residential and commercial applications.
  • Screed tools include the spreading and finishing tools needed to lay screed accurately and to the correct level before tiling begins.
